France, 1926, the quintessential French electric high-speed locomotive of the 1920s. Among legendary electric series, the 2D2 5500 ranks alongside the famous CC 6500. Put into service starting in 1933, these high-speed locomotives ended their careers in December 1980 at the Toulouse depot. The 2D2 5500 is a series of French electric locomotives built on a Brown Boveri design that was in service from 1933 to 1980; 2D2 5503 to 5537 "Pig Nose" E 503 to 537 PO then PO-Midi, later becoming 2D2 503 to 537 SNCF, delivered from May 1933 to June 1934. 

Bronze case finish with brass decking and nickel silver railings. Maxon 252060 12V DC motor with flywheel driving all axles via gears. Minimum curve radius 600 mm (500 mm if the steps are not installed). Sommerfeldt pantographs.
