This HO scale DC model represents a Krauss-Maffei built 0-4-0 saddle tank locomotive, lettered as Werk-Lok No. 3 and named ANNA — a charming German industrial and works railway tradition of giving small locomotives personal names. The model carries detailed white lettering noting Maffei builder plates dated 1905, classification markings R2, and the notation Auf Bundesbahn zugelassen (approved for Federal Railway operation), indicating this prototype worked in environments where it could transition between private industrial tracks and Deutsche Bundesbahn lines.
Krauss-Maffei was one of Germany's most prolific and respected locomotive builders, headquartered in Munich and responsible for countless small industrial and works locomotives from the mid-19th century through the 20th century. These compact 0-4-0 tank engines were workhorses of German industrial railroading — serving factories, mines, breweries, and industrial plants across the country, often given individual names by the facilities that owned them.
This HO model features a plastic body and chassis, smooth 2-rail DC operation, and the distinctive red spoke wheels with silver side-rods that bring the matte black livery to life. The underside includes German-made component markings consistent with post-1990 manufacture.
